Welcome to the Angle Metrology website
This website is dedicated to the European Metrology Research Project* “Angle Metrology” and intends to provide information to and bring together stakeholders from the industry, Synchrotron Radiation (SR) and Free Electron Laser (FEL) centres and academia.
In the menu, we provide you information about the project, the partners involved, the collaborators and the stakeholders that are contributing to the project.
Registered users have access to all summary reports, workshop presentations and photograph sections. If you are interested in becoming even more closely linked to the project, please have a look at the Stakeholder Committee section and contact the project coordinator.
This project aims to go beyond the current state of the art by performing investigations, experimental work, and by developing prototype devices for the realisation of the SI angle unit ‘radian’ with an expanded uncertainty less than 0.01 arcsec (50 nrad). This work will ensure the reliable and SI traceable measurement of angles in industrial and scientific applications of angle measuring instruments.

*This project is a so-called Joint Research Project (JRP) and carried out as part of the European Metrology Research Program (EMRP) that is jointly supported by the European Commission and the participating countries within the European Association of National Metrology Institutes ( EURAMET e.V. ). The EMRP is jointly funded by the EMRP participating countries within EURAMET and the European Union.
